PRESQUE ISLE, ME – The Northern Lighthouse, Inc. (TNLH) recently received a $5,000 donation from Versant
Power to support Safe Harbor Shelter, an all-inclusive emergency shelter for homeless youth ages 10-17 in
Aroostook County. These funds will help The Northern Lighthouse, Inc. with the costs of program supplies and
activities that will directly support Safe Harbor Shelter and homeless youth. Safe Harbor Shelter will be
located on 14 Main Street in Mars Hill, Maine.
Versant Power provides donations to non-profits that provide crucial services that strengthen and assist
communities within its service areas. The awarded funds from Versant Power Charitable Giving will support
the startup of the emergency shelter and will help us to provide support to homeless children and teens
throughout the year.
“Safe Harbor Shelter is a lifeline for children and teens in need of emergency shelter and support services in
Aroostook County,” said Versant Power’s Director of Customer Service and Communications, Kendra Overlock.
“Versant Power is pleased to help Safe Harbor Shelter continue its important work in our communities.”
The Northern Lighthouse, Inc. is grateful to Versant Power for their support of this project and our work to
end youth homelessness in Aroostook County and throughout Maine. Because of their generous support, The
Northern Lighthouse, Inc. will be able to provide emergency shelter and services that will make a lasting
impact in the lives of homeless youth for years to come.
